Ingredients

  • potato 2 pieces
  • vegetable oil 1 tablespoon
  • salt 1 to taste

Tools

  • oven
  • sharp knife
  • mandolin
  • bowl
  • baking sheet

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200 °C). Lightly grease two baking sheets with oil.
  2. Slice the potatoes into thin rounds, about 1/8 inch thick, using a mandolin or a sharp knife.
  3. Lay the sliced potatoes on a clean kitchen towel or paper towels and pat them completely dry.
  4. Combine the potatoes, oil, and salt in a bowl and toss to coat evenly.
  5. Arrange the potato slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets, making sure they do not overlap.
  6. Bake until the chips start to crisp, then flip each chip and continue baking until golden and crispy. Remove any chips that finish early and let the rest continue cooking.
  7. Let the chips cool for a few minutes before serving. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.

Serving suggestions

Best served fresh.

Storage suggestions

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. A few minutes in a hot oven will help restore the crunch.
